Opportunities for Talent Development (OTD)

Meeting the educational needs of middle and high school students who learn at a pace well ahead of their classmates presents special challenges for school districts and parents. To satisfy these needs, Central Michigan University's Opportunities for Talent Development (OTD) program provides quality educational opportunities through its accelerated mathematics and advanced science classes.

ScienceThe OTD program features the Central Accelerated Mathematics Program (CAMP) courses, which allow students to complete four years of high school math in two years, and the Intermediate Interdisciplinary Science (IIS) courses, which are designed for academically talented students expressly interested in science.

About the OTD program

Opportunities for Talent Development is a regional math, science and English program for high-ability students in the Clare/Gladwin, Gratiot/Isabella, Mecosta/Osceola, Midland, and Montcalm intermediate school districts. OTD classes follow the university calendar for holidays and breaks rather than local school district calendars.

The OTD Program is funded by:

  • local school districts
  • parents
  • Central Michigan University
  • Central Michigan Science / Mathematics / Technology Center
